Wine description

The Terrasses du Larzac are a gentle marriage between the earth and the vine, revealing the secrets of an ancestral terroir, as evidenced by the Via Luteva, a Roman road dating from the 1st century BC, a remnant of a glorious past conducive to commercial and cultural exchange. This terroir and this historical period form a magnificent duo between nature, winemaking expertise and heritage, offering a journey through time and taste. Harvesting begins on the basis of ripeness checks, analysis of polyphenols contained in the grape skins, and daily tasting of the berries as the harvest approaches. Picking healthy, ripe grapes is the essential step in achieving a high level of quality. The harvest is done by hand, and the grapes are brought to the winery within the hour in harvesting crates. The grapes are sorted and then destemmed before being placed in temperature-controlled vats. Each grape variety is vinified separately. The maceration period lasts 20 to 25 days. Part of the wine is aged in barrels.

Which dishes should I pair with this wine?

Each product page provides a food and wine pairing suggestion suited to the cuvée. Our online tasting assistant can also advise you based on your menu.

How long can I keep this wine?

The ageing potential depends on the cuvée and vintage — it is specified in this wine's technical sheet. In general, our wines for ageing and fine wines can be kept for more than 10 years, or even over 100 years for our fortified sweet wines, whilst our lighter cuvées, intended to be enjoyed young, are best appreciated within 2 to 3 years of purchase.

What is the alcohol content of this wine?

The alcohol content (% vol.) varies by cuvée and vintage; it is listed in the product’s technical data sheet, below the description.

Is this wine dry or sweet? What is its residual sugar content?

The majority of our red, white and rosé wines are dry. Our natural sweet wines (Rivesaltes, Maury...) and certain crémants are sweet or semi-dry. The style (dry/sweet) of this cuvée is specified in its description.

Which grape varieties make up this wine, and which terroir does it come from?

The grape varieties, appellation and terroir of origin are indicated in this product’s technical data sheet.

Does this wine contain sulphites?

Like almost all wines, our cuvées contain sulphites (naturally present during fermentation, sometimes added in small quantities as a preservative). Details (“no added sulphites”, level, etc.) are specified on this product’s technical data sheet and on the back label.

Is this wine vegan?

Many Gérard Bertrand cuvées are vegan certified (100% plant-based fining agents, no products of animal origin). This wine’s vegan status is indicated in its certifications on the product page.

Should this wine be decanted before tasting?

This depends on the wine and its age, as specified on the technical data sheet where relevant. As a general rule, our powerful age-worthy wines benefit from being decanted 30 minutes to 1 hour before tasting; lighter wines, whites and rosés can be served directly.
