The Rivesaltes appellation takes its name from the town of Rivesaltes, which means "High Banks" in Catalan. Crossed by 3 rivers — the Agly, the Têt and the Tech — which have shaped a landscape of terraced slopes and hills, the Rivesaltes vineyard covers extremely varied soils.
The vineyard consists of numerous small terraced plots situated on the slopes of the natural geological cirque in which the historically rich village of Tautavel is located.
