BWW 2021 – Best Sparkling Wines of the World (Best Sparkling wines of the World)

Gold: Ballerine – AOP Crémant de Limoux.

Ballerine is a Crémant de Limoux produced according to the method inherited from the monks of the Abbey of Saint Hilaire. A brut rosé made from a blend of the finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from high-altitude terroirs, revealing freshness and tension. An ageing of 36 months on lees worthy of the greatest bruts, allowing for a vibrant and creamy finish.

In the BWW 2021 press release: 20,675 wines received more than 3 million votes cast by 190,000 wine professionals and enthusiasts from 115 countries. After the voting period, the 100 wines with the most votes in each category were qualified for the final, which took place in December 2020 in Helsinki. During the final, the wines were assessed and ranked twice in blind tastings by the tastingbook panel of professional tasters (a jury selected from 11,000 professionals: editors, bloggers, Masters of Wine, sommeliers, etc.)

The six main categories included red wines, white wines, rosé wines, sparkling wines, fortified wines and Champagne. Within each category, the best wines were awarded, also taking into account their price level and country.
