Pic Saint Loup wine, one of the best red wines by Gérard Bertrand

Organic Pic Saint Loup wine

One of the best red wines from Pic Saint Loup

The collection of Héritage wines by Gérard Bertrand is an invitation to discover the greatest terroirs of Languedoc-Roussillon, such as Picpoul de Pinet, Saint-Chinian, or Pic Saint Loup.Héritage "An 1189" is a direct reference to the medieval legend that gave Pic Saint-Loup its name.

The AOC Pic Saint-Loup appellation

The AOC Pic Saint-Loup appellation is one of the benchmarks for wines from the south of France.

Located north of Montpellier, on the foothills of the Cévennes, the AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) Pic Saint Loup vineyard is one of the most prestigious in Languedoc-Roussillon. Set on limestone geology covered by Mediterranean garrigue vegetation, the vines here produce fine and elegant wines.

The character of Pic Saint Loup red wines

Red wine from pic saint loup

The character of Pic Saint Loup red wines is an ideal marriage between the power of Languedoc wines and the roundness of Rhône Valley wines. This deep ruby-coloured wine comes from three grape varieties emblematic of the Occitanie region: Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Its traditional winemaking (destemming, maceration, pressing and malolactic fermentation) ensures an authentic expression of the flavours of this iconic wine.

A portion of this Pic Saint Loup wine (approximately one third) is aged in barrels for 9 months, bringing a complex aromatic palette and greater roundness. This careful approach allows the An 1189 Pic Saint Loup collection to offer a rich and velvety tasting experience. On the nose, this red wine from the south of France reveals an intense and deep bouquet. The palate, for its part, is a reflection of its terroir, complex and generous, evoking the Mediterranean garrigue from which its vineyard originates.

For a perfect food and wine pairing, enjoy this Pic Saint-Loup Héritage An 1189 at a temperature of 18°C, with a full-flavoured red meat or game, grilled or roasted vegetables, and aged cheeses.
