Fully south-facing and constantly ventilated, the Grenache from Plantabelle thrives in this southern setting, tempered by a cooler microclimate on its slopes (the holm oak, very Mediterranean, shares the garrigue with the downy oak, typical of a more temperate climate). Biodynamic farming gives the vine every capacity to draw the best from these conditions and to convey their contrasts to the grapes, so that they reach us right through to the glass.
Blended with a touch of Syrah, the Grenache from Plantabelle is hand-harvested, destemmed, vinified traditionally and then aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
The result is the generous opulence of a full south-facing Grenache, with aromas of plum, blackberry and garrigue, combined with the vertiginous tension of Grenache grown on schist, with smoky, liquorice and menthol accents that are as elegant as they are delicious. The oak ageing is perfectly integrated, kept particularly gentle to respect the Grenache, which is sensitive to oxidation. The toasted notes instead enhance the fruit's indulgence, while the fresh tension of the schist carries through to the long, mouth-watering finish.
