On Tuesday 9 July, the wine world gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London for the annual IWC 2019 awards evening. With 10,000 wines from around the world tasted, a very rigorous evaluation process, a blind tasting in 3 stages by at least 12 different judges, the IWC is renowned as the most prestigious competition in the world. The six jury chairmen, Sarah Abbott MW, Tim Atkin MW, Oz Clarke, Dr. Jamie Goode, Charles Metcalfe and Peter McCombie MW, taste every medal-winning wine to ensure that only the finest cuvées are awarded a prize.
Château l'Hospitalet Grand Vin Rouge AOP La Clape 2017 received the award for best red wine in the world (IWC Champion Red Wine 2019).
This award is an international recognition. It rewards the precise work carried out in the vineyards and in the cellar, as well as the commitment to biodynamics and the preservation of biodiversity.
Château l'Hospitalet Grand Vin Rouge AOP La Clape 2017 achieved one of the highest scores in the competition: 97/100. It also won the trophy in each category: "La Clape Trophy", "Languedoc Trophy", "French Red Trophy" and the "IWC Champion Red Wine Trophy", distinguishing itself as the best red wine in the competition.
