The Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Terrasses du Larzac is located in the Languedoc, in the south of France, between the foothills of the Larzac plateau and the Mediterranean plain. This appellation, which extends across approximately 32 communes and more than 4,000 hectares of vines, covers a distance of around 60 kilometres, offering a diversity of landscapes and microclimates.
Technical characteristics
The wines of the AOP Terrasses du Larzac derive their unique character from an exceptional terroir marked by the freshness brought by altitude and the proximity of the Larzac plateau. The climate is Mediterranean with mountain influences, bringing significant temperature differences between day and night, thus encouraging a slow ripening of the grapes. The soils are varied, composed of limestone, scree and schist, contributing to the aromatic complexity of the wines. Red grape varieties dominate in this appellation, principally syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and carignan, producing elegant, balanced wines with aromas of
Raison d'être and values
The AOP Terrasses du Larzac embodies the commitment of winegrowers to preserving ancestral know-how while respecting nature. It is on the lands of our Sauvageonne estate that the Terrasses du Larzac appellation expresses its full richness. Our efforts focus on the enhancement of a unique, biodynamic terroir, where respect for local traditions and modernity come together to create authentic, powerful yet balanced wines. The appellation reflects strong values of sharing, sustainability, and excellence, seeking to produce wines that tell the story of their land while captivating wine lovers the world over.

A neighbour bought your red 2020 Grand vin to dinner last night and everyone was very impressed by it. Gutsy, bold, smooth fruit driven GSM…typical of Languedoc….but very distinctive, never tried your wines before….made a very good impression.I wished we had opened it earlair….well done. Fully aware of Terrasses du Larzac now!!!
