Two wines in homage to paternal heritage
To suggest a highly symbolic gift idea or the wine for your family meal on Father's Day Sunday, we take you today to Boutenac, in the heart of the Corbières.
It was at Château de Villemajou that winegrowing know-how was passed down from father to son. Here, in the vineyard and in the cellar, Gérard Bertrand began his apprenticeship with Georges Bertrand at the age of 10.
Acquired by the Bertrand family in 1973, the vines of Château de Villemajou surround the buildings and stretch out on gently sloping hillsides over arid soils of rolled pebbles, battered by the winds in summer and winter alike, and overlooking the plain.
Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre find the right terroir here. As for the Carignans, they're right at home! On the La Forge plot, Georges Bertrand's favorite, their magnificent vines, knotted by time, are now a hundred years old.
The wines of Château de Villemajou, in the Corbières Boutenac appellation, bear witness to this painstaking handing-down, magnified each year with love and humility. Cuvée La Forge is a poignant tribute from a son to his father.

Château de Villemajou Grand Vin Rouge 2017
The strength and aromas of Corbières lie in this deep garnet-red wine. Round and well-balanced on the palate.
Good ageing potential.
Ideal with grilled chops or Mediterranean dishes. Decant and serve at 17°C.
La Forge 2019
The Château's exceptional wine: a blend of magnificent century-old Syrah and Carignan grapes selected from the parcel of the same name. The palate is as dark as a ripe cherry, with great fullness and aromas that combine power and elegance.
High ageing potential.
Magnificent with rack of lamb or grilled beef. La Forge should be decanted and served at 18°C.
