Rosé wine from Languedoc, a typical wine of southern France

Rosé wine: deciphering this summer's drink

Rosé wine, a typical wine of southern France

Fruity, light, tangy or floral, rosé is a multi-flavored wine that is increasingly popular in France, especially during the summer season.

Easy to enjoy and particularly refreshing, it's hardly surprising that it's so often served on terraces, by the beach or pool, or at barbecues with friends.

How to serve rosé wine

At what temperature should you drink rosé?

A summer drink par excellence, rosés are one of those wines that are best served chilled !

In fact, its serving temperature is between 8 and 14 degrees depending on the rosé wine tasted. The cuvée Gris Blanc Gérard Bertranda light rosé with a very pale pink color, has an ideal serving temperature of between 10 and 12°C.

So remember to leave it in the fridge for a few hours, or in the freezer for a few dozen minutes if you're pressed for time!

Rosé wine can also be served on the rocks, but beware: adding ice cubes to your glass will dilute its properties, taste and flavor. But after all, it's all a matter of taste and preference!

Rosé is not meant to be kept, so it's best to drink it soon after purchase, and up to two years at the most, to preserve all its flavors and aromas.

Finally, rosé doesn't need to be decanted or aerated either: just open and enjoy!

What dishes to serve with rosé wine?

What dishes to serve with rosé wine

One of the advantages of rosé wine, and its main strength, is that it can be easily adapted to all types of dishes and accompaniments.

A glass of rosé can be drunk as anaperitif or throughout a meal.

A direct result of its origins in the south of France, rosé wine goes particularly well with Mediterranean cuisine, from tapas to dishes based on fresh vegetables, fish and olive oil.

A case in point is the Hampton Water cuvée, an intense, mineral rosé wine, the fruit of a collaboration between artist Jon Bon Jovi, his son Jesse Bongiovi and winemaker/entrepreneur Gérard Bertrand.

Rosé also goes well with typical dishes such as ratatouille, bouillabaisse, taboulés, mixed salads, carpaccios, and of course during a barbecue to accompany grilled white or red meats, fish or shellfish.

Rosé wine can also be served with spicy world cuisine.

With cheese, it goes wonderfully well with fromage frais, goat's and sheep's cheeses, as well as soft cheeses.

Finally, thanks to its roundness, freshness and minerality, rosé wine goes well with summer desserts such as fruit salads, ice creams & sorbets, fruit tarts, granités and frozen smoothies!
