The collection of Héritage wines by Gérard Bertrand is an invitation to discover the greatest terroirs of Languedoc-Roussillon, such as Picpoul de Pinet, Saint-ChinianHéritage "An 1189"is a direct reference to the medieval legend that gave rise to the name Pic Saint-Loup.
The AOC Pic Saint-Loup appellation is one of the benchmarks for wines from the south of France.
Located north of Montpellier, in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains, the Pic Saint Loup AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) vineyard is one of the most prestigious in Languedoc-Roussillon. Situated on a limestone geology and covered by Mediterranean garrigue vegetation, the vines here produce fine, elegant wines.
The character of Pic Saint Loup red wines is an ideal marriage between the power of Languedoc wines and the roundness of Rhone Valley wines. This deep red wine is made from three grape varieties emblematic of the Occitanie region: Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Traditional vinification (de-stemming, maceration, pressing and malolactic fermentation) ensures that the flavors of this iconic wine are authentically transmitted.
Part of this Pic Saint Loup wine (around a third) is aged in barrels for 9 months, bringing out its complex aromatic palette and roundness. This meticulous approach enables the An 1189 Pic Saint Loup collection to offer a rich, smooth tasting experience. On the nose, this red wine from the south of France reveals a deep, intense bouquet. The palate, meanwhile, reflects its terroir, complex and generous, evoking the Mediterranean garrigue from which its vineyards originate.
For the ideal food and wine pairing, enjoy this Pic Saint-Loup Héritage An 1189 at a temperature of 18°C, with characterful red meats or game, grilled or roasted vegetables, and mature cheeses.
