We know red wine, white wine and rosé wine, but there's also orange wine, which is gradually taking its place on the best tables. Orange wine, which came to life in antiquity, is an astonishingly flavorful blend of red and white wine methods.
Orange wine takes its color from white grapes that have been macerated for a long time, retaining the grape skin during the winemaking process, as is the case with red wine. Although it may appear rather syrupy, it's actually quite dry, and develops a wide range of flavors depending on the region: fruity, acidic and floral.
Just like the best white winesthe diversity of orange wine means it goes well with a wide range of dishes, from fish, seafood and vegetables to more prestigious dishes such as foie gras.

Despite all the enthusiasm in recent years for bringing orange wine back into the limelight, there are still very few producers taking up the challenge. Alsace and Jura also produce orange wine, but Languedoc-Roussillon, notably Gerard Bertrand, has embarked on a veritable conquest to restore its reputation.
Several cuvées are now available, including the famous Orange Gold, and the excellent Villa Soleilla. The fruit of a long process of blending seven grape varieties, orange gold is surprisingly fresh, reflecting the mineral landscapes of southern France. The tannin remains light, with subtle acidity. On the palate, it's an explosion of white flower, candied fruit and white pepper notes. Finally, if you're looking for an extraordinary taste experience, the excellent orange wine " Villa Soleilla " is a must.
Carefully harvested by hand, the blend of Vermentinon, Viognier and Roussane produces a full-bodied, complex wine. Notes of garrigue, thyme and honey on the nose. On the palate, the aromas are spicy and fruity, with apricot in particular. No doubt that these cuvées are today must-haves in the cellar of connoisseurs of good orange wine and of the best orange wine.
