I am passionate about the Mediterranean lifestyle and I want to promote and share the cultural and gastronomic riches of the South of France through the numerous wine tourism activities available at Chateau l’Hospitalet."

Biography

1965

Born 27 January in Narbonne.

1975

Georges Bertrand introduces his son, Gérard, to the wine harvest in his cellars at Domaine de Villemajou at Boutenac in Corbières (Aude).

1984

Start of his rugby career in Narbonne, ending in Paris after ten years of experience in top level sport and all its values.

1987

Begins working in August at Domaine de Villemajou alongside his father who passes on his passion for the terroir. His father dies prematurely in October.

1992

Creates the Gérard Bertrand wine company which proceeds to buy Domaine Cigalus in Bizanet (Aude) and Château LavilleBertrou in the commune of La Livinière (Hérault).

1993-1994

Captain of Stade Français, Paris.

2002

Settles at Chateau l’Hospitalet and develops wine-tourism activities based on the concept of Art of Vivre.

2010

Acquisition of Chateau Aigues Vives, in Corbières Boutenac

2011

The Gérard Bertrand group acquires the Domaine de la Sauvageonne, in Terrasses du Larzac and thus continues to develop the reputation of the best Languedoc crus.

2012

Gérard Bertrand takes up a position in the Malepère region by taking over operation of the Château de La Soujeole

2013

The foundation stone of the new vinification and bottling cellar, environmentally conceived and designed by JF Lusher, is laid at La Clape in Narbonne.

A subsidiary opens in the United States, one of 70 countries which distribute Gérard Bertrand’s wines.

2014

He opens a new winery in La Clape. Reveals the Clos d’Ora to the public and takes over the management of Château de Tarailhan and Château des Karantes.
