As early as the 13th century, the Hospices de Narbonne settled on La Clape, which has been connected to the mainland by the alluvial deposits of the Aude since the end of the Middle Ages. Documents from 1561 attest to its mission of welcome and sharing for pilgrims. This vocation of hospitality inspired Gérard Bertrand, who made l'Hospitalet the beating heart of his endeavours around the Mediterranean art de vivre, ever since he acquired the estate in 2002. The Château today boasts a 5-star hotel, a gastronomic restaurant, a tasting and sales cellar, an Art Space and a rich offering of sensory journeys around wine. Music was the missing element: in 2004, the château hosted the first \"Jazz à l'Hospitalet\" festival, which has since become an international reference. La Clape has retained its limestone soils from its Pyrenean héritage. L'Hospitalet benefits from one of the sunniest climates in France, and the radiance of the sun gives the wines a unique luminous balance. Biodynamic farming allows the full expression of this resonance of the environment and the terroir, between the richness of the fruit and the tension of the structure.
