Château de la Soujeole: ecological transmission of a family heritage

Château la Soujeole: Fullness
Located not far from the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Château de la Soujeole benefits from an extraordinary location. The atypical and confidential terroir of La Malepère benefits from both Mediterranean influences and oceanic influences from the west.
The beauty and purity of the place convinced Gérard Bertrand in 2013 to cultivate the vines according to the principles of Biodynamics: respect for nature and the life of the soil, no use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers , etc.
In order to find the perfect balance between the mineral, vegetable and animal world, the plots are cultivated and plowed using mules. Animal traction, unlike mechanical traction, allows the soil not to be compacted, thus letting it breathe, for a richer soil life!
This extraordinary terroir that is the Malepère appellation is ideal for growing oceanic grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, the three grape varieties that make up Château de la Soujeole Grand Vin Rouge.
A characterful wine from the estate's best plots
The grapes are harvested by hand, in two stages, each variety is picked separately, in a specific order. The grape varieties are then blended after 12 months of aging in oak barrels.
From the Château's best plots of vines, Château de la Soujeole Grand Vin Rouge is a cuvée of character, with a unique terroir flavor, for the great pleasure of lovers of good wine.
