The Week of French Language and Francophonie was created in 1995, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. It is organized every year around March 20, International Day of Francophonie.
This event is a privileged moment of Francophone identity. Thousands of events are organized, both in France and abroad:
• writing workshops
• Oratory sparring
• slam competitions
These events allow the general public to celebrate the French language, federating a cultural space which is common to all francophones and French-lovers.
