Cinsault is a grape variety of the Rhône Valley and Languedoc-Roussillon mainly. These regions are the ideal soil for this grape variety which resists well to the drought. Big producer, it is necessary to establish it on rocky and dry hillsides with good exposure.
It has big round clusters, with very juicy flesh, and of a black bluish colored skin.
It is the essence of Mediterranean light and fruity rosés. It is known to give fine and elegant rosés, in the aromas of grenache, red berries, peach and white flowers, with a beautiful balance between liveliness and roundness. We also find it in red wines of Minervois, Corbières etc. Often associated with Grenache and with Carignan, it gives wines with very delicate tannins.
Cinsault is a part of the grape planting of many properties, for example, we can find it at Château l’Hospitalet.
