Jeff Dunncuk says about Le Viala, vintage 2014: "The top wine, and one sensational Minervois, the 2014 Minervois la Liviniere la Viala checks in as a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan that was raised all in new oak. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and surprisingly finesse driven, it offers terrific purity in its violet, lavender, blackberry, raspberry and peppery bouquet. Long, seamless, polished and balanced, this is one high class effort that will have 10-12 years of longevity. It doesn’t come cheap, but the quality is there.
I was able to taste three wines from Gerard Bertrand, all of them being well made and noteworthy. These lean towards the modern end of the spectrum and have no shortage of dark fruit and chocolate notes."
