Four Gérard Bertrand wines honored in the Terre de Vins top 180!
Tasting notes reports by Anne Serres
Code Rouge - 18/20 (favourite): Very pretty fine bubbles in a cloud of pale gold. Intense nose with floral (acacia, hawthorne) and fruity notes (apricot and fresh mint). The mouth is balanced and elegant, with buttery and pastry notes and fresh fruit aromas of nectarine, apple and citron. The finish prolongs this bouquet extensively.
A rich and deep sparkling wine, ideal for aperitif, but also for a praline dessert.
La Forge 2014 - 16,5/20 (favourite) : Breathtaking. The dense robe indicates a complex nose, powerful red and black fruit (strawberry, cherry, morello cherry), with an appealing chocolate touch. The mouth reveals infinite complexity on spices (liquorice, juniper, all-spice). The tannic structure signs a long aging potentiel.
Carafer to serve on a grilled suckling pig.
Château l’Hospitalet Grand Vin Blanc 2015 - 16/20 (favourite): A beautiful, charming wine where citrus aromas meet the stirring toasted hints and take on salty, iodic notes. This mouthwatering touch lengthens the finish even more.
On a salt-crusted sea bass with herbs.
Aigle Royal Pinot Noir 2014 - 15,5/20 : A very beautiful wine of cherry, flower, red and black fruit, almost kirsh-like. Remarkably balanced and persistant, the finish bears a lovely smokey touch.
On a leg of deer with cherries.
